Castle Honda Maintenance Minder Packages
Everyone wants to keep their car in the best shape for as long as possible. One sure-fire way to do that for a Honda is to perform regular maintenance according to the factory-recommended maintenance schedule. That is why Honda has implemented the Maintenance Minder System to ensure that you are always on track with your Honda maintenance. Keep reading to learn more about the Honda Maintenance Minder System and how it works.
What is the Honda Maintenance Minder System?
The Honda Maintenance Minder System is an innovative monitoring system that reminds you when your car needs servicing. It uses the onboard computer to continuously monitor engine operating conditions such as engine temperature, ambient temperature, speed, time, and vehicle use to determine when servicing or maintenance is needed. The Honda Maintenance Minder will appear as an illuminated wrench symbol on your dash/driver information display.
How Does the Honda Maintenance Minder System Work?
The Honda Maintenance Minder System replaced the maintenance schedule in the owner's manual. The system tracks Maintenance "A" reminders and Maintenance "B" reminders. Maintenance "A" reminders track the essentials such as engine oil life and calculate it as a percentage, which drops over time as the vehicle is used and racks up mileage. Immediately after the oil is changed, it is considered 100%, then slowly winds down to 0%, which would be regarded as overdue for servicing. You will receive maintenance reminders at 15% oil life which will be indicated by a message saying "Service Due Soon", 5% oil life which will be indicated by "Service Due Now", and 0% oil life which will be indicated by "Service Past Due". Maintenance "B" tracks other services and maintenance reminders are indicated by their own codes, such as oil changes, tire rotation, brake service, and more.

Engine Oil Change (Maintenance "A" or Minder "0")
- Replace engine oil and oil filter
- Multi point inspection: check tire pressure, horn, lights, wipers, & more.
- Most basic but essential service for a vehicle's engine.
Maintenance B Service
- Replace engine oil and oil filter.
- Rotate tires
- Perform seasonal tire swap (only if tires are already on rims).
- Front and rear brake service: clean, lube, adjust, sand front and rear brakes.
- Inspect steering and suspension components.
- Top-up fluids.
Tire Rotation
Wheel Alignment
- The vehicle's steering may go off-center due to potholes and curbs on the road.
- Steering off centre=premature tire wear (especially on tire edges).
- Recommend once a year or 24,000kms.
Throttle Body Service/Clean
- Throttle plate in throttle body opens and closes according to pressure applied to throttle (accelerator pedal).
- Over time, throttle body/plate is gummed up with carbon deposits, not allowing the plate to open freely.
- Tech will clean throttle body to ensure proper airflow to the engine.
