How to Get the Most Out of Your Honda Vehicle Warranties

Honda has been highly praised for its reliability and excellent build quality. Modern Honda vehicles hold these distinctions even more. However, even with the highest reliability and build quality ratings, there is always the chance that something unexpected can go wrong with your vehicle. Thankfully, Honda has various warranties you can use as a crutch if anything goes wrong within your first few years of ownership. Keep reading to learn more!

Warranty Coverage

When you purchase a new Honda vehicle, it will come with a standard warranty. The standard warranty covers many vehicle components for a set amount of years and kilometers, whichever comes first. Coverage includes:

  • Powertrain Warranty; five years/100,000 km
  • Distributors Warranty; three years/60,000 km
  • Emissions Systems Warranty; three years/60,000 km
  • Hybrid System Warranty; eight years/160,000 km
  • Rust Perforation Warranty; five years/no distance limit
  • Surface Corrosion Warranty; three years/no distance limit
  • Audio and Navigation Components Warranty; three years/60,000 km
  • Battery Warranty; three years/prorated
  • Honda Plus Roadside Assistance; three years/no distance limit

If you opt for Honda’s extended warranty coverage, many of your Honda’s major components, including brakes, electrical, suspension, steering, powertrain, and more, are now covered for up to eight years/200,000 km.

Keeping Your Coverage Intact

The last thing you want to hear when your vehicle encounters a major issue is that your warranty is invalid. There are a few simple things to keep in mind to avoid this. Firstly, you should always keep track of your coverage and how long you have owned the vehicle to be sure it is still within warranty. Other things to avoid to ensure your warranty doesn’t get cancelled include:

  • Not using an authorized Honda service centre for maintenance or repairs
  • Not keeping the recommended service schedule
  • Using aftermarket parts for repairs or modifications
  • Making your own repairs or modifications
